Features of the Outdoor Master Shark Electric Pump
Let’s take a look at what makes the Outdoor Master Shark 2 so great. Outdoor Master provided us with the pump for this review. As with all our reviews we will give you all the good and bad of it.
The Outdoor Master Shark II Pump retails for $135.99 on the Outdoor Master website. You can get it for $122.40 with our discount code ERO2022. It also sells on Amazon.
The Shark can inflate paddleboards up to 20 PSI. This is enough for almost every paddleboard made. Most inflatable SUPs are designed for 12.5 to 15 PSI pressure.
Inflating Multiple Boards with Cooling System
The Shark ii pump is one of the few pumps that claims it can inflatable several paddleboards in a row. Most pumps out there now can pump 1 or maybe 2 boards before overheating. The Shark can pump up 3 to 4 boards. It does this by having an active cooling system that keeps the motors cool. The cooling fan continues to run after pumping has stopped to ensure the motors can cool. The pump also has a sand filter inside to keep it from getting clogged and overheating. It has a 12a fuse to prevent damage if it does manage to get clogged.
In the event it does overheat, it has a high temperature cutoff that will shut down the motors until they cool off. This means increased safety because you won’t burn out your pump or start a fire from overheating.
The pump has a very easy to use interface with a digital pressure gauge. It’s easy to read in any light condition from bright sunlight to after dark. It can display both PSI and Bar. It can inflate up to 20 PSI in 0.5 PSI increments. To use you set the Pressure with the +/- buttons and hit the power and let it go. It automatically shuts off when it reaches the desired pressure.
Fast inflation and deflation
It pumps fast thanks to a 2 stage pump. It has both a high volume pump and a high pressure pump. It automatically switches around 1 psi too high pressure inflation. This is about the air pressure I find I have to switch from 2 stage to 1 stage with a hand pump. I timed pumping my Chasing Blue Infinite 10’6″ board and it took 7 minutes and 31 seconds. It takes me just under 6 minutes to do it by hand if I am really going at it.
The pump is quiet during the low pressure stage. It gets louder during the high pressure stage which is most of the inflation time. Every paddleboard pump we have tried has been equally loud once they go into the high pressure mode.
The pump has a deflation function as well as inflation. Move the hose to the deflate nozzle and it will suck the air out of your board.
12 volt power cord
This pump runs off of a 12 volt power source such as the 12 volt outlet in your car. The cord is 10 feet long so you can easily reach the board from your car.
It comes with a variety of valves that cover almost every paddleboard made. This includes an H3/Halkey-Roberts, Pinch, Boston, 805, and C7 valve. It also includes a few different thickness gaskets to make all these adapters work. A new feature of the Shark 2 is that the adapters are connected to the end of the inflation hose instead of in a separate bag. This way you don’t need to keep track of a little bag of parts with the pump.
You can use this electric air pump on more than just inflatable paddleboards and kayaks. It can be used for almost any inflatable boat, inflatable watercraft, towing tube, inflatable dinghy, or other high pressure inflatables.
How well does it work?
This is one of the best paddleboard accessories you can get. I am extremely pleased with it so far. It works and works well. Let’s talk about some of the best points of this paddle board pump.
Inflation times almost as fast as hand pumping. I have tried out the Shark 2 on a variety of boards now.

I can beat most of these times with the included hand pumps by 1 to 2 minutes. It takes a lot of work, minimum breaks to rest, and you are exhausted by the time you are finished doing it.

What we liked about the Shark 2
The pump is very straight forward and easy to use. It comes with instructions but most people could figure it out without them. After plugging it in, you press the +/- buttons to set the target pressure. After this, you push the power button to start it. Then it pumps until the desired psi is achieved and it stops. Nothing to it. It handles switching from low to high pressure on its own.
The cooling fan works very well. To test out the pump, I inflated my board to its max pressure (13psi), deflated it, and inflated it again. I did this 4 times in a row to see how hot the pump would get. The result is that it didn’t get warm. This has proven to be a very consistent cooling system. The inflate hose was a little warm but that is it. It didn’t feel warm anywhere on the pump housing. It was about an 85F day while I did this.
I have inflated my board twice several times in a row while setting things up, figuring out how to use the pump, and showing friends how the pump works. It’s never gotten warm yet.
I timed the inflation of my board. It went from zero pressure to 13 psi in 7 minutes and 31 seconds. It takes longer than I can do it by hand but only by a minute. I’m sure it will save time on a hot day when I need to take more breaks while pumping. The pump doesn’t need to rest when the pumping gets difficult. I’d rather use my energy enjoying my paddleboard, not pumping it up.
Deflating with the pump worked very well. You have to unscrew the hose and screw it into the deflate port. Turn it on and let it suck the air out. This made deflating quick and easy compared to sucking out air with a hand pump or rolling the board to squeeze the air out. You will notice a change of tone when the pressure hits zero and you start sucking a vacuum into your SUP. Turn off the pump and disconnect the hose at that point.
What could be improved about the Shark 2
The inflate and deflate labeling on the pump are hard to read. I almost need to remove my glasses and hold the pump up to my face to read them. I’m sure I will remember which is which after a while. It wouldn’t hurt if they mold the labels in a little more pronounced way. This is my biggest irritation with this pump and it’s not really much of a problem.
The pump does not come with a carrying or storage bag. This would be a great addition. I have a canvas bag that is just about the right size I have been using. A nylon storage bag with a handle would be great for storing the pump and parts.
Tips for using the Outdoor Master Shark air pump
1 – Check for air leaks
Check that there are no air leaks at the adapters, the valve in the board, and the hose attachment to the pump. You should not feel air coming out of any of these points. If you feel air leaking something is loose.
On my first try using the pump I did not tighten the H3 valve tight enough onto the hose. I started inflating and the pumping rate slowed down a lot around 5 psi. I felt my hand around the inflation valve and could feel air coming out. I tightened up the valve and tried again and it pumped up to 13 psi with no problem.
I have tried up to 17psi with the pump. There should be a steady increase in the psi level the entire way to maximum pressure. I didn’t notice much drop off in rate from 2 psi onward. If your pressure stops increasing or goes very slow you may have a loose valve or hose.
2 – Attach the inflation hose to the board first
I find it works best to attach the valve to the paddleboard and then attach the hose to the pump. The hose is stiff and can flip the pump over. If you hook the hose to the pump first you will twist the hose getting the inflation valve attached. This may put enough twist in the house that it won’t let the pump rest on the board. Hook up the valve and then screw the hose onto the pump. The hose won’t be twisted and everything will sit nice.
3 – Check your hand pump valve and gasket to know what to use
It can be a little confusing to find the right valve and gasket combination. The easiest way to do this is to hold up the valve on your manual SUP air pump and find the matching valve and gasket. Don’t assume because you have an OutdoorMaster pump and an OutdoorMaster SUP that the gasket on the valve will be correct. It wasn’t on mine. I had to switch the gasket on the Halkey Roberts Valve to the thin gasket. It had the thickest gasket from the start.

I think this pump is a must have for anyone who has an inflatable paddle board or inflatable kayak. It turns the pumping process from a chore with a manual pump to a nice relaxing few minutes. This pump is reliable, easy to use, pumps strong, and can pump up several boards. I would buy this pump again and recommend it to all my friends.
